News of Conferences, Readings, and all things Writerly–and otherwise . . .
Think of this as an exchange. I’ll tell you news about where I’m going, or events I’ve heard about that might be helpful in advancing the craft of writing; you tell me yours . . .
Brags:
- I just found out that an excerpt from my work-in-progress, House of Thorns, is a finalist in the Memoirs/Personal Essay category of the Writer’s Digest annual writing competition!
- My story on Kanuche–the survival food the Cherokees concocted out of necessity as they walked The Trail of Tears–is now online at the Home and Away website as part of its “Eating on the Run” series; and my story on Wall Drugstore, a quirky South Dakota roadside landmark, is running in this month’s issue of South Dakota’s AAA Home & Away.
Cyberspace Sightings:
- Check out my new blog, Haiku-doodle, a haiku journal where I’ll be adding my own 5-7-5 observations on this, that and the other . . . as well as new haikus from cyberspace readers itching to try out their own haiku-doodles on the world.
- Farewell Travels is a wonderful travel website with a wide range of articles–ranging from family to adventure travel and everything in between. Check it out at www.farewelltravels.com.
- For a look behind the scenes of the publishing world and tips on the ins and outs of getting your book published, check out www.pimpmynovel.blogspot.com.
